Matariki

WALT - We are learning about matariki.




1.Matariki is found low on the horizon in the north east of the sky.


2. Matariki is the Māori name for the cluster of stars also  is
known as the Pleiades. It rises in the middle of winterand for many
Māori, it heralds the start of a new year. Matariki literally means
the 'eyes of god' (mata ariki) or 'little eyes' (mata riki).


3. There are about a thousand stars in Matariki , but only about
seven are visible to the unaided eye:


4. In English, it is called the Pleiades (its ancient Greek name) or
the Seven Sisters. The Hawaiian name is Makali'i, or 'eyes of
royalty', and in Japan it is Subaru, meaning 'gathered together'.

5. Do you know the North Star does mov.


This was prity esse to do but the the whare was hard to make.
